PRESENTATIONS
TECHNICAL SCHOOL TEACHERS. AVhen the students of the Palmerston North Technical School held a social in the assembly hall to mark the end of the term, on Thursday night, Airs R. A. Bennett, who resigned from the staff at the end of last term, and Aliss Janet A. Young, who retired this week, were guests of honour. Miss Audrey Black, a prefect, presented Mrs Bennett with a book as a token of the scholar’s appreciation of her services to 1 the school. A most enjoyable programme was given. Yesterday afternoon the staff and pupils of the school assembled to say farewell to Miss A T oung. An apology was received from Air AI. H. Oram ■who, as chairman, sent the greetings of the Board of Governors. The director, Air G. G. Hancqx, stated that for 16 years Aliss Young had given faithful service to the school and bv her quiet, unassuming manner she had gained the respect and affection of the girls of whom she had charge, and had had a refining influence. She had regarded additional duties as a privilege. Aliss Afahel Harvey, head prefect, expressed the pupils’ thanks for all that Miss A T oung had done for them, and wished her a long and happy period of retirement. She asked her to accept as a keepsake a beautiful crystal powder howl. Aliss Young, in acknowledging the gift, said that she had received much pleasure from the work and would always have happy recollections of her association with the school and pupils. On Thursday afternoon the staff entertained Aliss A 7 oung at afternoon tea. Air Hancox. referred fo the sterling qualities of Aliss Young and asked her to accept a silver teapot as a token of appreciation from her colleagues.
