CRICKETER’S FEAT.
100 WICKETS; 1000 RUNS. Received August 21, 10.5 a.m. LONDON, Aug. 20. The Essex player, M..S. Nichols, for the third yenr in succession is the first player to attain 100 wickets and 1000 runs. He has accomplished this feat six times in all, beating the record of the late J. W. Douglas. Details of the county matches are as follow: Middlesex v. Somerset. —Middlesex: First innings, 393 (Edrich 129, Hart 84, Compton 81). Somerset: _ First innings, 130 (Robins 5 for 73, including the hat trick). They followel on, making 131 (Sims 5 for 55). Middlesex won bv an innings and 132 runs. Yorkshire v. Glamorgan. Yorkshire : First innings 356 (Mitchell 105, Barber 86) ; second innings, 7 for 171 declared. Glamorgan/ First innings, 243 (Vority 5 for 76) ; second innings, 199 (Verity 5 for 71). Yorkshire won bv 85 runs. Essex v. Notts—Essex : First innings 301 (Wilcox 90; Harris 4 for 34) ; second innings, 7 for 266 declared (Wilcox 99). Notts: First innings, 288 (Nichols 5 for 78) ; second innings, 108. Essex won by 171 runs. Warwick v. Surrey.—Warwick: First innings, 253 (Crammer 85); second innings, 8 for 263. Surrey: First innings, 9 for 369 declared (Holmes 81, Barling not out 92). Surrey won on the first innings. Hampshire v. Worcester. Hampshire: First innings, 103 (Perks 6 for 47); second innings, 191. Worcester: First innings, 282 (Human 78) ; second innings, none for 13. Worcester won by ten wickets. Nortliants v. Lancashire. Northants: First innings, 227 (Snowden 128, Ribbles 5 for 43); second innings, 4 for 225 (Timms 104). Lancashire: First innings, 6 for 230 declared (Iddon not out 83). Lancashire won on the first innings. Gloucester v. Kent. Gloucester: First innings, 434 (Parker 210) ; second innings, 182. Kent: First innings, 399 (Woolley 100) ; second innings, 2 for 219. Kent won by eight wickets. Sussex v. Derby.—Sussex: First innings, 219 (James Lan'gridgc 91 ; Copson 8 for 04) ; second innings, 311 (John Langridge 123). Derby: First innings, 8 for 485 declared (Worthington 238, retired hurt) ; second innings, 1 for 47. Derbv won by nine wickets.
