YESTERDAY'S BUSINESS AND PRICES.

Business was rather less activo on the Wellington Stock Exchange yesterday, but a good volume of trading was recorded. Government loans remained firm on a kcon demand. Supplies were scarce, but, £2090 worth of 4 per cent, slock, 1952-55, sold at £lO5 7s 6d, an advance of 2s 6d. A parcel of £1535 worth of 3£ per cent stock, 1938-52, wont at £lO3 15s. There was very little inquiry for bank shares. Now Zealand sold fourpeiice up at 44s lOd. Commorcial of Australia eased to 17s lOd, Rollers 18s 2d, and the preference to £9 3s, sellers £9 9s, all ex dividend. Financial and pastoral issues were quiot and unchanged: No interest was shown in insurance shares. P. and 0. deferred stock was firm at 425, no sellers. New Zealand Browerics wero easy at 49s 6d, and Staples wore wanted at 51s 6d, sellers making no offers. Dominion Breweries sold at 40s Miscellaneous industrial and trading issues showed little change. ' Australian Glass sold at, 955. Broken Hill Proprietary wore offering at 84s Electrolytic Zinc preference sold at 60s 6d, and moro were wanted at that price. Wilsons Cement firmed to dealings at 21s 4£d and 21s 6d. Mount Lyell weakened to business at 44s Id and more wore wanted at 445. G. J. Coles were easier at Fellers 97s 6cl. MacclufTs preference were firm at 26s 6d, sellers 28s 6d. and there wero sellers of Shillings at 20s. Woohwrtlis fSydney) tvere easier, sales being made at £6 11s and £6 10s 6d. Buyers staved in nt. £6 9s 6d, sellers Is higher. McKenzies Department Stores wero firm at 86s 3d, sellers 87s 3d.
