SOCIAL EVENINGS.

Mrs S. Kitchen was hostess at a pleasant evening given for Orange Lodge No. 56 at her residence in Aorangi Street. The time was spent in games and competitions. Amongst those present were Mr and Mrs F. Finch, Mr and Mrs H. Thurston, Mrs Marsh, Mrs Smith, Miss L. Smith, Miss N. Finch, Mrs McDonald, Mrs Trass, Mrs Waugh,. Mrs Wallis and Mrs Scott.

An evening was held recently in aid of the Pipe Band Queen (Miss Joy Duncan) at Mrs S. Kitchen’s residence. Mrs Kitchen received her guests attired in black georgette and lace. The time was spent in competitions and games. Amongst those present were Miss Joy Duncan, Mr and Mrs Cox, Mr and Mrs Johnson, Mr and Mrs Fraser, Mrs Geange, Mrs Pettit, Mrs Wemyss, Mrs Dick, Mrs Garnett, Miss B. Pettit, Miss M. McCulloch, Miss E. Rowe, Miss J. Frazer, Miss A. Duncan, Mr L. Hopping, Mr G- Dick and Mr W. Kitchen.

In the Oddfellows’ Hall, last night, a social evening was held by the Oddfellows’ Lodge. It was the 70th anniversary of Oddfellowship in New Zealand and greetings w?re received from various lodges. The evening was passed in dancing and cards, the music being supplied by Mr A. E. Matlieson. Mrs E. McFarland won the ladies’ prize in the euchre tournament, while Mr Fidler won the men’s prize. In the" lucky Gay Gordons Mrs Turner and Mr Dewar were successful.
