MARTON, Aug. 18. On Thursday week Rev. ,J. E. Jones, who has been acting-vicar at Ilunterville, will leave for England en route to India to take up work in the mission field. Hit destination is an important vocational school at Chapra, about .400 miles up the Ganges Valley. Dr R. A. Church presided over a meeting of the Marlon District High School Committee Inst evening. The meeting, after considering the temperature figure* taken in the classrooms, decided to again take iqi the matter of ail improved heatin'l' svstem with the Wanganui Education Board. The flagpole, which is in an lm safe condition, is to he replaced. Tho headmaster reported that the attendance during the past four weeks had been:--Primary department, roll average 299, percentage 94: secondary, roil 84.7, average 81.3. percentage 95. " MARTON. Aug. 19. The women’s hockey competition, which was continued yesterday after an interval of several weeks, resulted: Tutaenui 4. v. United 2; Kia Ora 3 v. Ilalcombe 1.
