WEDDING.
BOWLER—SNELLING
All Saints’ Church, Palmerston North, was the scene of a very pretty wedding on Wednesday August 11, when Cissie Kathleen, only daughter of Mrs E. M. Snelling. of Palmerston North, and the late Mr IV. Snelling, was united in the bonds of holy matrimony to Eric. H., third son of Mr and Mrs J. Bowler, late of Buckley, Shannon. The ceremony was performed by Rev. H. S. Kenney, <>f Pet ope, and Mr J. Holmes Runnicles played appropriate wedding music. To the singing of the hymn, “The Voice That Breathed O’er Eden,” and escorted by her brother, the bride walked up the aisle looking most attractive in her lovely gown of magnolia tinted satin fashioned in empire style, and cut to form a. fish-tail tram The bodice had a long gauged cowl at the-back and small buttons, the cleeves being full at the shoulders, tapering down to a point over the hands and finished with small buttons. Her veil of embroidered silk net was arranged with a wreath of orange blossoms and fell with a waterfall effect. Safin slippers and a sheaf of lilies completed a very charming toilette. In attendance as bridesmaids were tho bride’s cousin, Miss Marjorie Snelling (chief), and two friends, Miss Joan Humphrey a'nd Miss Doris Milne, who were attired in frocks of crepe evelyii, cut on similar linos to that of the bride, but without trains, in place of which were long tie sashes. Instead of a cowl at the back of the bodices, the necklines were finished in a novel style, a spray of deep red roses being particularly effective worn’ there, u similar spray , being featured oil the fronts of the net Julct caps, the backs of which were finished with a stand-up pleated frill. Deep red satin slippers were worn and they carried bouquets of deep red cyclamen, anemones, sweet peas and maidenhair fern tied in a largo bow with red satin ribbon. The bridegroom presented each bridesmaid with a gold signet ring. Mr Allan Bowler, brother of the bridegroom, .was best man, and Mr Duncan Snelling acted as usher. As the bride entered the aisle to leave the church, a niece of the bridegroom, little Pam McKenzie, presented her with a silver horseshoe on which was a bunch of heather and satin ribbon streamers.
The reception following was held at the tearooms of Messrs Collinson and Cunninghame, the tables being decorated with spring flowers. Holding pride of place was the two-tiered wending cake. There were about 40 guests, who were received by Mrs Snelling, mother of the bride, wearing a floral frock with diamante trimmings, and a blue swagger coat, her posy being of pink camellias and anemones. The bridegroom's mother, Mrs Bowler, assisted Mrs Snelling to receive the guests and she wore a brown ensemble and carried a posy of tinted freesias and laclienalia. Before taking their seats the guests extended tlieir congratulations and best wishes to the bride and bridegroom, who stood at the head of the table. The usual toasts were honoured and a sheaf of congratulatory messages read by the best man. When the bride and bridegroom left for tlieir motor tour, the bride appeared for travelling in a brown flecked tweed costume, worn under a dark brown pile nappa coat with gauntlet gloves, suede shoes, handbag, and a jievv spring model felt bat to match.
.-Mr and Mrs Bowler, who were the recipients of many useful and beautiful presents, will make tlieir home at Fitzlierbert West.
