At a meeting of the Fox ton High School ! Old Pupils’ Association Committee, as the ping-pong season is now drawing to a close, it was decided that the final meet- ■ ! ing should be held. Two handicap comi petitions for A and B players will bo held and prizes will be awarded to the winners ; of each section. It was also decided to hold a dance at an early date, when opportunity will be taken to make a presentation to Miss J. Thynne in recognition of her services as secretary to the association during the past six years. There was the usual large, attendance of merrymakers at the dance organised by the members of St. Mary’s Church. Visitors were present from Palmerston North, Levin, Shannon, and the surrounding district. The marriage of Miss Vera Mary Francos Mavor, only daughter of Mr J. R. Mavor and tho late Mrs Mavor, and Mr Rex Ball took place at St. Anne’s Church, ; Heliport, Johannesburg, recently. The bridegroom is tho son of Mr and Mrs Ball, of Johannesburg, and late of Foxton. The Rt. Rov. Bishop B. W. Peacey officiated, and the bride was given away by her father. The annual meeting of the Foxton Bowling Club was held last night. Mr Hind? presided. Tho annual report and balance-sheet were adopted, on the motion of Messrs Hinds and Trueman, members expressing satisfaction with tho club’s position. The reported stated, inter alia: —“The year commenced with an overdraft of £ll9 Os 2d, less outstanding subscriptions £6 10s, plus sundry creditors £32 9s Bd, making an actual total of £144 19s lOd, and finished with an overdraft of £146 6s 2d. less outstanding subscriptions £3, rates due £8 11s Bd, making an actual total of £lsl 17s lOd. Among the chief items of expenditure were £l9 13s for workmen on recent green alterations and £5 7s 6d for_ seeds and manure. The membership consists of 20 playing members and four life members. For the third year in succession the club won the Triangular Shield contest with an aggregate of 193 points, against Levin’s 145 and Shannon’s 139. Messrs Christie, Howe, Trueman and Mattar secured first placc_ in the Manawat.u Easter tournament, winning all 13 games, Messrs Roore and Thomson for the fourth year in succession took first honours in the centre pairs championship and enlarged a record which has probably not been equalled in this country previously. During the recess a great deal of work has been done for the improvement. of the playing area and it is anticipated that much benefit • will result. The following new mombors wore elected:—Messrs H. Osborne, G. M. Williams, G. Walls, C. Watkins. One resignation was received with regret, that of Mr C. Tatty. The election of officers re-

sulted:—President, Mr W. Trueman; vico- , president, Mr M. E. Perrcau (re-elected) : secretary and treasurer, Mr W. M. Thomas (re-elected); auditor, Mr E. Huntley; delegate to centre, Mr W. Trueman; joint green superintendents, Messrs O. Christie and J. Ncwth: selector, Mr F. Woods; management committee, Messrs H. Read. S. Mattar, B. Hinds, K. de Ridder, G. Scaddcn. The annual subscription, was approved at. .£2 10s as previously, and the problem of late payment of subscriptions was left in abeyance until a later dato. Tho annual assessment, of the Croquet Club was confirmed as during last year.
