The anticyclone which, has been controlling the weather over New Zealand during the last few days is now centred to the eastward, and a series of westerly depressions is advancing across the Tasman Sea. Forecast: Light to moderate northerly winds, later freshening and reaching gale force at some exposed positions about the Straits. Weather clouding over and rain developing later, more especially in and west of tlie ranges. Temperatures mild. Seas moderate to rather rough and increasing. RIVER GAUGE AT PALMERSTON NORTH.
