REPLY TO COMPLAINT.

BRISBANE, Aug. 18

The Prime Minister, (Rt. Hon. J. A. Lyons) who is visiting Queensland, commented on the complaint against the influx of aliens made by passengers on the Oronto and said he was quite prepared to have ail inquiry into the physique and mentality of the migrants coming by the liner. He added that there was nothing abnormal about the number of foreign migrants entering the Commonwealth. He understood that about 80. per cent, of the newcomers were dependent relatives of persons already resident in the Commonwealth. _ A Canberra message says it is officially stated that the excess of permanent arrivals over departures, principally Southern Europeans, in 193536 numbered 3583.
