MODEL ’PLANES.

A very fine flight was recently made with a petrol driven model aeroplane designed and built by L. I. Houghton, of the Imperial Model Aero Club. After a very flue take-off tho model climbed to a height of about 150 ft. or 200 ft in a graceful turn and then headed for the open country. The flight lasted for five and a-half minutes, after which the motor ran out of petrol and the model gave a realistic demonstration of the three point landing. It was the best of tlie several flights made throughout the day, two and three minute flights being common. Tho motor is a fifth of a horsepower, two cycle, midget petrol engine, the bore being 15-16 in and the stroke Jin. It will run at any speed between five hundred and ten thousand revolutions per minute, and the spark is supplied by coil ignition.
