ADDINGTCTJ SALE. EASING TENDENCY. Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, Aug. 18. As thero "was no sale last week because of the Grand National holiday, there were heavy entries of stock in most sections at to-day’s Addington market. Prices were inclined to case. Store sheen.—Aged ewes were cheaper by Is 6d and’ wether and owe lv.ggcts were unchanged. Young ewes wore slightly better. Two-tooths made,to 375, s.m. to 24s 6d, and owe hoggets to 335. Fat sheep.—Heavy plain wethers were cheaper by 3s, others by 2s lo 2s 6d, and i-oot] eves by up to Is ou national market rates. - PRICES AT JOHNSONVILLE. WELLINGTON, Aug. 19. A largo yarding of cattle and sheep was offered at the Johnsonvillc stock sale yesterday. The yarding of cows and heifers was of exceptionally good quality, extra prime cows and heifers meeting with spirited competition at prices firm to the extent of 5s to 10s a head on last week.

Light and unfinished station cows were easier by 5s a head. All classes of wethers met with a keen demand at prices firm by Is a head. Ewes sold readily, with a firming tendency for cjftra heavy ewes, but, lightweight and unfinished sorts were slightly- easier. LEVIN VALUES. LEVIN, Aug. 18. At the weekly sale at Levin there was a large yarding of pigs and an excellent sftlo* resulted at ruling rates in all classes. There was a small yarding of sheep, and a medium offering of cattle, and prices vvero well maintained. Realisations were: Pigs.-—Light pork 33s to £2, medium £2 2s 6d to £2 10s, heavy £2 12s lo £3 ss; choppers, 26s to 38s; woaners, 14s lo 16s ,6d; slips, 18s to 21a; small stores, 22s to 25s 6d, medium 26s to 325; sows to farrow. 25s to 355. PAIIIATUA- SALE. At the Pahiatua weekly- stock sale a fair yarding of dairy cattle, sheep and pigs was offered. Quotations :—Dairy cows (cany cal vers), £6, £6 Ids, £7, £7 15s to £3 10=; late cal vers, £5 10s, £6 to £7 ss; heifers (early calvers), £6 100, £7 5s to. £8 10s; later calvere, £5 5s to £6 ss. Quantity bay,, £5 a ton. STORTFORD LODGE. , Per Press Association. HASTINGS, Aug. 18. Fresh records ■were set for fat ewes ana wooilv wether hoggets at Stortford Lodge stock’ sale to-day. Prime cattle also sold readily. In a moderate yarding cows predominated, but there were very few P"™ pens. The best made £9 10s to £lO lls Ud medium £3 to £9. Exceptional quality shorthorn cross heifers ranged from £5 15s to £6 15s. This quality was slow to trade, showing no improvement on last week. . .. Store sheep met with brisk selling, wether hoggets advancing 2s. a head, wellgrown fat and forward making 26s 10d to 27s 3d. Hoggets shorn as lambs brought 21s. Fat and forward wethers made 29s 2d and forward 275. Mixed aged breeding ewes, heavy in lamb, in splendid order, brought 365. Fattening ewes ranged from 14s to 16s Bd. . Fat. ewes advanced 3s to 4s, reaching 40s. a record for several years. A small yarding of fat sheep consisted chiefly of ewes, and competition was very keen. WESTFIELD MARKET. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, Aug. IS. As anticipated, a further advance in beef values was recorded at Westfield today in consequence of another very short market. Ox made an additional 2s a hundred pounds, and cows and heifers wore quoted 3s a hundred pounds dearer. Similar values have not been obtained, foi nearly seven years. Light to mediumweights sold best, steers being up to £1 a head dearer and cows to about £1 10s. Extra choice ox sold at 40s a hundred pounds, choice and prime 36s to 395, unfinished, 32s to 355; prime cow and heifer beef, 34s to 375; unfinished, 24s to 33s extra heavy prime steers, £ls 10s to £lB 10s; heavy, £l4 10s to £l6 17s 6d; medium, £l3 5s to £ls; light. £ll to £l3 10s; unfinished, £8 to £ll 17s 6d; extra heavy cows and heifers, £l2 to £l4 ss; heavy. £lO 10s to £l3 10s ; medium, £9 to £l2; light, .£6 lo £10; unfinished, £3 to £B. ..
