FRENCH AIR RACE.

NEW ZEALANDER ENTERED. Received August 19, 11.15 a.m. PARIS', Aug. 18. After taking off for Istres to participate in the French air race to Damascus and back, M. Codos received a radio warning that a tyre had burst, and he was thus enabled to make a safe landing. The race begins on August 20. The 13 entrants include eight Italians, among whom is Signor Bruno Mussolini, four Frenchmen, and one Briton, Flying-Officer Clouston.

Mr Clouston, who is a New Zealander, took part in the air race to Johannesburg. He was formerly a member of the Marlborough Aero Club.
