INCREASES IN BUTTER AND CHEESE.

TWELVE MONTHS’ FIGURES.

Exports of butter from the Dominion during the twelve months of the 1936-37 season ended July 31 readied the record total of 149.003 tons, an increase of 7555 tons over the shipments for 1935-36. Of the 1936-37 shipments, all but 3168 tons wont to tho United Kingdom, which is tho mainstay of the New Zealand dairy produce export trade. Total exports to the . United Kingdom were 145,835 flons, an increase of 8225 tons over those for 1935-36. Shipments to London totalled 107,988 tons, an increase of 2360 tons. Shipments to West Coast U.K. ports totalled 37,847 tons, an increase of 5865 tons Over those for 1935 36. The Primary Products Marketing Department has supplied the Dairy Board with tho. following details of butter exports for the last two seasons:—

Britain is practically tho only overseas market for New Zealand, cheese. Exports during the 12 months ended July 31 totalled 85.169 tons, an increase of 1241 tons over tiiose for 1935-36, and with tho exception of 180 tons the whole of this great quantity was shipped to the United Kingdom. Details of the cheese oxports compare as follows;

Total tons 85,169 83,928 Shipments of Australian butter to the United Kingdom during tho 12 months ended July 31 totalled 72,018 tons, compared with 87,707 tons for tho 1935-36 season, a dccreaso of 15,698 tons. Shipments of cheese wore 5691 tons, as against 5512 tone.
