MANAWATU TEAMS. The selector of the Manawatu Hockey Association, Mr W. J. Fitzgerald, has chosen the following teams to represent the association in the representative fixtures next Saturday : Manawatu v. Dannevirke, at Dannevirke (to play in green and white) — Goal: L. Hart; backs, W. Sutton, A. Drinkwater; halves, W. Burne, I. Davey, M. Smith; forwards, D. Hoare, D. O’Brien (captain), C. Ward, R. Hoare, V. Turner. Emergencies: Back, E. Nutkall; forward, E. Pink. • The men’s team travelling to Dannevirke will assemble at the Post Office at 1.15. Manawatu v. Bush, at Hokowhitu (to play in black). —Goal: R. Gaskin: backs, M. Byers, L. Winks; halves, W. Scott, K. Burne (captain), I. Carruthers; forwards, H. Buchanan, P Comber, J. Morgan, R. Scales, R Jones. Emergencies: Backs, G. Blair, L. Sweetman; forwards, A. Nesbit P Loft.
The following A and B junior teams have been selected to play the curtainraiser to the representative game with a view to selecting a Winter Shield team:
A team (to play in white). —Goal: E. Fuller; backs, J. Olliver, A. Goff; halves, K. Mason, M. Abraham, A. Dyer; forwards, J. Cosgrove, C. Hincks, J. Goodwin, R. Tester, M. Quigan. B team (to play in Services colours) —Goal: C. Burne; backs. F.. Howard, R. Rama; halves. B. Robinson, W. Baker, R. Woodgyer; forwards, A. Daly, J. O’Connell, 1. Byers, B. Leader. A. Lyon. Emergencies : Backs, H. Wills, B. Whitehead; forwards, R. Thorburn, S. Robertson. _ Anyone unable to play is requested to ring 7215 or 8509. LADIES’ TEAM.
The following ladies’ team will represent Manawatu against Bush: Goal, C. Brown; backs, D. Tucker, V. Rolleston; halves, D. Hancox, F. Highfield, A. Teague; forwards, J. Pink, E. Thomas, V. Bottcher, M. Kearins, H. Griffin. Anyone unable to play is requested to notify the selector, Mr J. K. Paton. SATURDAY’S FIXTURES. The following matches have been arranged for Saturday, August 21: Winter Cup trial match at Hokowhitu at 1.40 p.m. Men. —Manawatu second XI v. Bush, at 3 p.m., at Hokowhitu. Women. —Manawatn v. Bush, at 3 p.m., at Hokowhitu. The Manawatu representatives will play Dannevirke at Dannevirke.
