REGISTERED NURSES.

MANAWATU BRANCH. Miss C. McKenny (Pahiatua) presided over the monthly meeting of the council of the Manawtau branch of the Registered Nurses’ Association which was held on Monday evening. Also present were Mrs R. C. Burnett, Misses L. Banks, E. F. Worn, A. M. Kearns. I. Madden, D. Heape, and Y. A. Kelly (lion, secretary). Two new members were elected and one transferred from the Nelson branch was accepted. Miss Kearns (treasurer) reported on the gratifying success of the recent bridge evening. A general meeting of the branch followed which was very satisfactory in its attendance.

Miss McKenny made feeling reference to the passing of the late Miss J. N. McGhie. matron of the Palmerston North Hospital, who had been a former president of the branch. aTid asked the members to stand in silence as a mark of respect. Following the general business. Miss McKenny introduced Dr. K. Dean, who gave an address on “Nursing and New Medicine.” At the conclusion, he was accorded a vote of thanks.
