BUS STRUCK.
CROSSING SMASH. SCHOOL CHILDREN SHAKEN. HAMILTON, Aug. 16. When the Gordonton School Inis overturned on the Victoria Street level crossing at 8.45 this morning, after being struck by a goods train from Cambridge, 23 child occupants had miraculous escapes. Although the children were badly shaken, only one, Pearl Greig, of Orini, was injured. She received a slight cut on the left arm caused by broken glass, but later attended school. All the pupils attend either the Hamilton High School or the Technical College. All the windows of the bus on one side were hroken and the bodywork was damaged. The train struck the hack of the bus. pushing it off the line and over on its side. It is understood the warning bells at the crossing were ringing, and a signalman, with a “stop” sign, was on his way to the centre of the crossing when the crash occurred.
