NEW YORK, Aug. 16.
Reports received at midnight from Alaska strengthen the belief that the Soviet ’plane, which was last heard of after it had passed over the North Pole on its flight from Moscow to America, descended on the ico in the vicinity of the Pole. The Pan-American representatives at Fairbanks sent a radio message stating that a seaplane and two land 'planes searched without result over 2000 miles, extending half-way to tho Pole.
