YESTERDAY’S BUSINESS AND PRICES.
Strong upward movements in chain store issues were tho outstanding feature of tho market, on the Wellington Stock Exchango yesterday. Tho bulk of tho recorded turnover was in those shares. Active dealings in Woolworths, Lid. (Sydney) saw a marked recovery in prices. Sales wero mado at up to £6 16s 6d, a gain of 11s 6d since Friday. G. J. Coles have also staged a good recovery and dealings wero reported late yesterday at £5 Is 9d. McKcnzios Department Stores continued their upward trend and an odd lot was sold at 87s 6d. The negotiations announced for a fusion of Macduffs, Ltd., and Shillings. Ltd., had a stimulating effect upon tho latter, dealings being reported at 19s 8d to 20s, as against 17s 8d on Friday. Gear Meat advanced to business at 18s 9d. Other sections of the market showed little chango. YESTERDAY’S QUOTATIONS.
