CRIPPLED CHILDREN.
SOCIETY’S ANNUAL MEETING. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Aug. 17. Ail assurance of the Government’s whole-hearted sympathy with the work of the New Zealand Crippled Children Society was given by the Minister of Health and Education (Hon. P. Fraser) when officially opening the second annual meeting. He commended the efforts already made to a leviate the lot of those in whose interests the society had been established. Mr Fraser said that the two departments of which lie was the head came into close contact with the society’s work and there was a desire to help in every possible way. In a letter the-president (Mr Justice Smith) in apologising for his absence, referred to the establishment of women’s auxiliaries as a stroke of insight, and described the taking over of the Wilson Home by the Auckland Hospital Board ns an admirable solution of a financial difficulty' admirably effected. Sir Alexander Roberts, who presided, eulogised the work accomplished by the branches during the year. It was decided to arrange a conference with the Education Department to investigate the whole question of the education of crippled chi’dren and to endeavour to arrive at a satisfactory scheme.
