AVOIDING MILITARISM.
SCOUT RESOLUTION. (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, Aug. 13. The Chief Scout and the Chief Guide, Lord and Lady Baden Powell, were the guests of Queen Wilhelmina to-day on the conclusion of the Scout jamboree at Vogelensang._ Newspapers report with favourable comment a resolution passed bv the delegates of 35 nations at the final session of the International Scout Congress expressive of the Chief Scout’s teaching on Scouting and nationalism. . .The resolution requests the international committee to do all it can to ensure that Scouting and Roving should possess all the elements of international co-operation and friendship, irrespective of creed and race. Thus the resolution states that any step to the militarisation of Scouting or the introduction of-political aims which might cause misunderstanding and handicap-the work for peace and goodwill among nations and individuals should be entirely avoided.
