The killing season for hobhv calves is now in full swing, and last week about 50,000 head passed through the five freezing works in the Auckland province. Auckland farmers have realised this season some £23.000 from this sideline. Operations are expected to go on at the peak rate for about three weeks, though the season lasts several months. When the numher of calves coming fomvard declines in October. pork killing will again he at their height, and in November and December the new season’s lambs will keep the exports firms busy, says the Star.
