COLONIAL PRODUCE
NEW MARKETING BOARD. £IO,OOO ALREADY VOTED. BIG SUM NEEDED YEARLY. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) (British Official Wireless.) Received August 16, 11.37 a.m. RUGBY Aug. 15. It is anticipated that the new Colonial Empire Marketing Board will consist of about 15 members, including representative members of Parliament and business men with experience in the marketing of colonial produce. The Colonial Secretary will preside over the board. The House of Commons has already voted £IO,OOO for the expenditure of the board, which, when in full operation, is likely to require about £52,000 annually. It is expected that the board will carry out a number of systematic investigations into colonial marketing methods.
The estimated total value of. produce exported from the colonies for the last year for which figures are available is in the neighbourhood of £240,000,000.
