POLICE TRANSFERS

SEVERAL LOCAL CHANGES. TWO ADDITIONAL CONSTABLES. Several transfers have been notified to members of the Police Force in the district administered from Palmerston North, and the number of constables in the city has been increased by two who have just left the Police Training Depot. Constable W. R. Miller, of Foxton, and formerly of Palmerston North, has received notice of his transfer to Mangonui, North Auckland. Constable Miller was stationed in Palmerston North from August, 1926, until last January, when he was transferred to Foxton. He proved himself a most popular member of the Force while here for his activities outside his official duties, while his likeable personality also found him many friends o:i all sides. From the inception of the Orion' Motor Cycle Club, about 1930, until his departure for Foxton he took a keen interest in its affairs, being a foundation member and an administrative officer. Constable J. Devine, of Kimbolton. goes to Hunterville. Constable Devine has been at Kimbolton since Constable Ferguson was transferred on promotion to the post of sergeant, in Auckland, some years ago. Constable B. Gillard, of Feilding, is transferred to Kimbolton, to take Constable Devine’s post there. Constable Gillard has been in Feilding since about 1928.
