(From Our Own Correspondent.) OTAKI, Aug. 13.
The funeral of’the late Sister Blackie took placo yesterday, when there was a representative gathering, including a number of returned soldiers. Messrs Atmore, Edhouse, Duncan, Marshall, Bebbington and Lethbridge were the pallbearers. There were a number of beautiful floral tributes, including one from the R.S.A. Mr Fielding sounded the “Last Post,” and an impressive service was conducted by Rev. Mr Jackson. A general meeting was held at Otaki on Tuesday night to consider the formation of a St. John Ambulance class. Fifteen persons attended. Mr C. Mencken, secretary of the Wellington Association, was present and gave some valuable information.
