FATALITY IN FIRE.

THAMES RESIDENT’S DEATH. Per Press Association. THAMES, Aug. 14. A fatal fire occurred early this morning. the Salutation Hotel being destroyed. About 16 were resident in the hotel at the time, all except Albert Fisher, married, aged 57, having very narrow escapes. Deceased evidently was overcome by the dense smoke. Mr Fisher had worked for many years at the mines at Thames and had lived until recently at Tararu. The building was an old landmark in the town, having been erected over 60 years ago.
