FOREST GLOW’S STEEPLES. JOURNET’S HURDLE RECORD. CHRISTCHURCH, Aug. 14. Tlio Canterbury Jockey Club’s Grand National meeting concluded at Riccarton to-day in fine weather and before a very largo attendance. The track was fast. There were several surprises, a feature being the success of Willie Win in the Hoathcote Handicap, ho having his first race since Easter. Forest Glow won the Lincoln Steeplechase, and Journet beat the favourite, Clarion Call, in the Sydenham Hurdles, while the concluding event went to Old Surrey. Awapuni stables had a good day, winning three races, L. Knapp taking both steeplechases. Tangled, who won a double during the week, was one of the best jumpers at the meeting. At the conclusion of the Hoathcote Handicap, C. P. Shcild, rider of Tiger Gain, was suspended for two months for causing interference to Big Dook at the live-furlong post. The totalisator investments were £59,604 (win £26,135, placo £33,469), against £52,007 on the concluding day last year, an increase of £7597. The total for the meeting was £173.686 10s, compared with £144,122 10s last August, an increase of £29,564. Results: —

Tangled gradually drew away and jumped the last fence clear of Sunward, with Arctic Star making a fast forward move.
