TRIPLE OFFENSIVE.

LAND, SEA AND AIR ATTACK

Received August 16, 1.40 p.m. SHANGHAI, Aug. 15. The Japanese began a combined land, sea ancj ay: offensive- this morning, again bombing the Hungjao aerodrome and vicinity and attacking tho Chinese rear positions west of Shangha;n lo Chinese announce the capture of tlie Japanese Naval Club after a bitter fight, 20 Chinese and 200 Japanese being killed. It is estimated that the Japanese troops in tho Shanghai area total 10 000. Tho Chinese have 70,000 and reinforcements are available. An additional battalion of Ulster Rifles is joining the first going to Shanghai from Hong Kong. Indian troops are ready to leave Singapore for China.
