REJECTED PICTURES.

SHOWN TO THE PUBLIC. To encourage artists whose pictures were rejected by the Uoyal Academy, 500 such pictures are now being shown in the Agricultural Hall at Islington, London. . The academy rejected 15,000. pictures this year. Critics, discussing the rejected works, state that, since some of the most interesting artists never submit their works to the academy, the rejects are, generally, academic in type. It is agreed, however, that, after this exhibition—the first of its kind—artists who have hitherto not submitted works to the academy for fear of rejection, will now submit them, realising that they have a better chance of being seen by the public.
