“A FEASIBLE PLAN.”
The Australian Federal Treasurer (Mr Casey) will confer in London with Sir George Simpson, director of the British Meteorological Office, concerning the establishment of meteorological stations in the Antarctic,-as recommended by the Polar Committee ot the Imperial Conference.- . Such stations have hitherto been regarded as impracticable, but bir Hubert Wilkins’s advocacy of them, which is strongly supported by Sir George Simpson, has convinced other experts that such a project has great possibilities. A station might bo established on the mainland, or on an island, and it would be a feasible plan to sent forecasts of the weather to all territories in the Southern Hemisphere.
