OHAKEA.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) OHAKKA, Aug. 12. The School Committee met on Tuesday, Mr F. O. Bailey presiding. Correspondence was dealt with in connection with the reerection of the dividing fence and in regard lo school matters. Arrangements were made to draw the rattle held in connection with the school funds. It was also decided fo hold the school ball in the Sandon Hall in September. A meeting of tlie ladies will be held to make arrangements for catering. Tlie matter of constructing a suitable roller for tlie playing area was held over ponding further enquiries; The head teacher reported that the roll number was 40 and the average attendances good. The new board fence had boon erected and was a decided improvement. Accounts totalling £l9 3s 5d wero passed for payment. Advice was received from tlie Education Board that a supplementary grant would be mado available this year, as was done last year. The recent spell of calm and sunny spring weather has been very welcome lo farmers. Lambs particularly are appreciating the conditions and are making rapid strides, while feed is beginning to come arvay well. Enthusiastic gardeners are finding the conditions ideal for their hobby. An epidemic of gastic and throat troubles is making its presence felt m this district at present.
