LEISURELY CHEETAH.
A lethargic cheetah—a hunting leopard—bounded after a mechanical hare at the AVliite City, London, with merely a handful of officials watching the experiment. Four cheetahs were brought on to the track. A lump of meat was tied on to the tin hare, and one of the cheetahs released from one of the greyhound traps. The cheetah bounded leisurely after the hare, and stopped suddenly, when the meat fell off, in order to eat it. A witness of this strange spectacle told tho News-Chronicle: “Later tw'o cheetahs were released together to chase a mechanical hare. One of them led easily and finally caught the hare. It seemed to me, however, that cheetahs will want more practice before they rival greyhounds.”
