WORLD’S DEEPEST.

NEW OIL WELL STRUCK. SAN FRANCISCO, July 29. The deepest oil well in the world, tapping a new pool more than two miles below the surface, was opened at Coalinga (California). It is on the edge of the famous Kettleman field, and geologists and oil experts agree that a new formation has been penetrated. This may open the richest field tapped since the original Kettleman discovery. Brought under control by the lieaviest capping equipment ever installed in California, the well has an estimated initial production of 1500 barrels of oil a day.

Natural gas is" being produced at the rate of more than 20,000,000 cubic feet, a day.
