JAPAN SEEKS CONFERENCE
LONDON, Aug. 11
The Australian Associated Press agency is inlormed that neither the P. and O. nor the British, India Line has agreed to attend an international shipping conference which Japanese companies are reported to be seeking to arrange at Tokio in the autumn for the purpose of discussing a division of the available passenger and cargo traffic in Eastern waters, and also passenger and freight rates. The P. and O. Company denies reports that it intends to transfer liners to the Pacific route while new vessels are being built.
