The Court at Suva had ordered the sale of Fannin? and Washington Islands, over which an immense amount of money had been spent in litigation. Germany had adopted the Plimsoll line for shipping. . Volcanic eruptions had occurred m the sea near Nukualofa, smoke, steam and redhot pumice providing a spectacular scene. An energetic movement was on foot in Taihape to establish a hospital there.
