MARKET REPORT.
PRODUCE, POULTRY AND PIGS
The Dominion Auctioneering Co., l’alirierston North, reports as follows: quality fruit met with keen competition during the past week; the recent warm weather has been beneficial to vegetables, resulting in a largo and varied assortment coming forward. Poultry was in exceptional demand, and record prices were realised for table fowls, even W.L. hens realising over -4s each and heavy cockerels, over 5s each, with the demand still unsatisfied. A capacity yarding of 350 pigs came forward to a large attendance of buyers; bidding was very animated and an excellent sale resulted in a total clearance, with prices firm on last week’s' rates. We quote as follows; —■ Pears. —Winter Coles, from 9s to 12s per 3 ease; Winter Nelis, from 8s to 10s 9<l per 2 caso; cooking pears, from 5s to 7s 9d per 3 case. Apples: Delicious, from 8s to 11s per bushel; Ballarats, from 8s to 10s per bushel; Stunners, from 7s to 9s per bushel; Granny Smiths, from 7s 6d to 10s per bushel; Donghertios, fr.om 6n 6d to 8s per bushel; Washingtons, to 7s 6d per bushel. Oranges, from'2os to 25s per caso; lemons, host from 14s to 18s per case; others from 10s to 13s per case; celery, from 14s to 18s per caso; carrots, from 5s 6d to 6s 9d per case; kumcras, from 6s to 7s pci* sugar bag; lettuce, from 5s to 12s 6d per case; onions, from 7s to 13s per cental; pumpkins, from 15s to 26s 6d per sack; spinach, from 5s to 8s 6d per case; cabbage, from 4s to 10s per sack; spring cabbage from 2s 6d to 7s per case; cauliflowers. from 6s to 11s per sack; seconds, from Is to 4s 6d per sack; rhubarb, 10s to 12s per dozen; parsnips, from 5s to 7s per cose; Brussels sprouts, from 13s to 16s per ease. Poultry.—Heavy cockerels, from 103 to 11s per pair; light cockcrols, from 8s to 9s 6d per pair; fat roosters, from 8s 6d to 9s 6d per pa-ir; light roosters, from 7s to 8s per pair; Black Orpington hens from 9s to 9s 8d per pair; best W.L. hens, from 8s to 9s per pair; lighter lions, 8s per pair; ducks, from 6s to 9s per pair; turkey hens, from 5s 7d to 6s 9d each; pullets, from 4s 6d to 6s Id each.
