FROZEN MEAT TRADE.
RECORD IN LAMB KILLINGS. TEN MONTHS’ EXPORTS. The present meat, export year ending on September 3D indicates a record for lamb. For the 10 months ended July 31, killings of lamb totalled 9,177,286 carcases, as against 8,786,383 carcases for tho corresponding period of 1935-36, an increase of 390,903 carcases. Exports of lamb for the 10 mouths showed an increase. t of 294,621 carcases, tho total shipments being 7,890.544 carcases. ■' Killings of mutton for the 10 months totalled 1.779,906 carcases, as compared with 1,883,784 carcases for 1935-36, a decrease of 103,878 carcases. Shipments of mutton /or tho 10 months totalled 1,340,508 carcases, a decrease of 176,799 carcases. Shipments of frozen beef decreased by 43.935 quarters, but exports of chilled beef were greater by 48.405 quarters. Exports of pork totalled 541,297 carcases, an -increase of 8606. Details of the shipments of meat and destinations for the ton months ended July 31 are given in the following tabic, the totals for tho corresponding period of 1935-36 being shown for comparative purposes :

All the chilled beef went to London and Southampton, with the exception of 285 quarters for Honolulu. ~ Killings of fat stock for export at all works during the 10 months ended July 31 were as follow, those for the corresponding period of 1935-36 being shown in brackets: —Chilled beef (qrs), 175,892 (127,485); frozen beef (qrs), 195,491 (189,327); wether mutton (cs), 972,552 (1,444,724); ewe mutton (cs), 807,354 (739,060); lamb (cs), 9,177,286 (8,786,383); pork (porkers, cs), 428,186 (449,4b2); pork (baconers, cs), 239,299 (215,913); boneless beef (ft cs), 493,941 (402,165); boneless bobby veal (ft cs), 104,810 (76,178); sundries (ft cs), 290,069 (297,595). Stocks of meat in cold stores m the Dominion as at July 31, with those of the corresponding date last year in brackets, were as follows: —Chilled beef (qrs), 1120 (1825); frozen beef (qrs), 95,971 (62,543); wether mutton (cs), 303,271 (284,426); ewe mutton (cs), 315,448 (256,477); lamb (cs), 1,096,205 (1,041,977); pork (porkers, cs), 125,770 (115,003); pork (baconers, cs), 22,087 (10,897); boneless beef (ft cs), 117,936 (88,745); boneless bobby veal (ft. cs), 22,937 (18,992); sundries (ft cs), 61,167 (56,005).
