Bro Pago, m making the presentation on behalf of the lodge, ® forred to the thorougn way in which Bro. Marshall had carried out the duties o secretary during tho past eight years, an expressed regret at the, loss of his services. Bro. Marshall, in thanking members for the surprise given him that evening, thought tho time opportune for the gaining of new members. If only the young- people would realise what they wculcL gain by joining a benefit lodge and the interesting work in the running ot such a lodge, he thought there would be no hesitation on their part. lie had enjoyed the eight years as secretary and had benefited greatly from the knowledge gained, and hoped it would boa, steppingstone to higher office. The combined efforts of the Ilalconibe Women’s Division and the Farmers’ Union resulted in an excellent evening’s entertainment last week. Tile prizes for cards were won by Mrs Gardner and Miss Schultzo and Messrs W. S. Pago and W. McLennan. The winner of the travelling flag prize was Miss F. Page. PERSONAL. Miss Ngaira Whittington, who has been staying with her uncle and aunt, Mr and Mrs J. Bush, of Tokorangi, has left for her home in Christchurch. Mr A. McNae, who has been on a trip to Christchurch, lias now returned. FLAG “500” EVENING. Tho last of the Hockey Club’s fort-
nightly “500” evenings was held in the hall on Wednesday, the prize-winners being;—Messrs It. Dais, T. Clapham, S. Williams and J. Hughes. Mr S. Williams also won the travelling flag prize.
