TIRITEA.
(From Our Own Coricsnonclent.i TIRJTEA, Aug, 12. There was a good attendance at the August meeting of the Tiritea Women's Institute, which was held at Mrs F. Andrews's residence; Mrs Andrews presided. Apo'ogies for absence wore received from Mesdames Kyle, B. Kilsby, Cunninghnrno, Smith and Jlaselden. Several invitations were received from sister institutes to attend their birthday celebrations. Misses D. Cunninghame and Doris Smith were appointed sunshine visitors for this month. Mrs Simpson, of Wcodville, gave an interesting talk embracing several different subjects. She also brought ever numerous articles that she bad made and these were greatly admired. Miss Lcxic McDonald, of Palmerston North, gave much pleasure by sinking “Trees"; her encore number was “The False Prophet.” Mrs Rickard, of Palmerston North, played the accompaniments. A competition for the best limerick about the Institute • was won by Mrs Andrews, with Mrs G. Edyvoan second and Mrs L. Hastings third. Mrs Rickard and Miss McDonald judged the limericks. Mesdames Hasloch and Knowles served afternoon tea. The competition for Septemlicr is for scones; roll-call; sandwich filling. Tho hostesses will be Mcsdames Kilsby and Ilnselden. Mr and Mrs P. Toms were recent visitors to Wellington. The friends of Mr B. Kilsby, who was an inmate of a private hospital in Palmerston North, will Ire nlonsod tn ’oem that he was able to return to his hbme at the beginning of tlie week.
