DAMAGE BY FIRE.
OUTBREAK AT HAMILTON. Per Press Association. HAMILTON. Aug. 13. A fire broke out in the store room of the premises of J. R. McKenzie, Ltd., at Hamilton this morning and, though the flames were soon extinguished, considerable damage was done to the stock, comprising rubber shoes and small goods. The smoke hampered the efforts of the brigade, who were forced to wear smoke masks. The brigade were successful in confining the fire to a small section of the store, employing salvage sheets on the lower floor. The total insurance cover on the building and stock is £15.000.
