CHARGE FOR BULK POWER
BOARD WANTS REDUCTION. Per Press Association. WANGANUI, Aug. 12. •Stating that it was time the Government granted some concession in bulk power charges, Mr F. Purnell, chairman of the Wanganui-ltangitikei Power Board, at the monthly meeting to-day said that tho distributors of power had reduced their cliarges to consumers approximately half since the electric power had been developed on a national scale some twelve years ago. The charges to the distributors, however, were still made under the schedule originally drawn up by the Government and were absorbing an unduly high proportion of the income of the authorities. He considered an early revision of the Government’s schedule of charges necessary in order to bring them more into lino with the progiessive policy adopted by the distributors of electric power. It was decided to forward a remit along these lines to the Power Boards Association conference.
