BOXING
RAYNER BEATS GILDO. ■ Per Press Association. BLENHEIM, Aug. 11. Clarrio Rayner, Blenheim, took a clear points decision over Young Gildo, Philippine Islands, in a 12-round boxing match to-night. Both scaled 9st 81b. The Filipino fought only spasmodically, seeming content to allow Rayner to make the fight. Rayner took full advantage of all opportunities, scoring particularly well in breakaways and with swift, unexpected leads. Gildo accelerated over tho concluding three rounds, but Rayner traded punch for punch in an exciting finish to maintain his lead on poinfs.
