GIRL GUIDES.

A visit was paid to Shannon by the District Commissioner of the Girl Guides (Mrs G. A. Eliott, of Palnieiston North) to attend the weekly meeting of the Shannon Girl Guides. Mrs Eliott inspected the patrol corners, after which she enrolled as members of the company Shirley Gunning, Connie Packer ,_ Doracii MeMeeking, Mavis Lepper, Ngunu Hikimata, Coral Andrews, Aldyth Pederson and Evelyn Free. Instruction was given to second-class Guides on first-class work, many of them hoping to work up to become first-class Guides before long. Mrs Eliott remarked that in numbers and general appearance the Shannon Company was running closo to being one of the best in the Manawatu district, and she hoped soon to have them linked with Palmerston North. The committee entertained Mrs Eliott at supper.
