REJECTION BY ZIONISTS. „ "ZURICH, Aug. 11. The Zionist Conference sat throughout the night debating the Palestine Commission’s proposals. It was agreed that the partition plan, as it stands, must be rejected, but there was considerable controversy regarding whether the executive should be empowered to negotiate with ihe British Government on a modified partition scheme. It was eventually decided to submit a resolution instructing the executive to negotiate, but insisting that any new proposals resulting from this step must be submitted to the newly-elect-ed Congress. . . . Sharp conflict of opinion marked the closing debate; Dr. Weizmann resisting the absolute rejection of the partition of Palestine. He declared: “So far and no further can England go. The real thing is to make the best of what is offered. A Jewish State would be something to offer in negotiating for peace with the Arabs. Dr. Wiezmann has gone to Geneva to attend the Mandate Commission s discussion on Friday.
