FAVOURABLE POSITION. (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, Aug. 9. The Ministry of Labour estimates at July 26 the number of insured persons in employment in Great Britain,. exelusive of persons within the agrioultunal scheme, was approximately 11,517,000, or 511,000 more than a year aS At the same date the registered unemployed was 1,379,459, comprising 1,069,180 wholly unemployed 246,615 temporarily laid off and 63,664 normally in casual employment. T)ie total, which included 1.0/4,4<4 men 40,920 boys, 221.400 women and 43 193 girls, was 22,861 more than at June 21, but 272,613 less than a year ago The increase on the June total is almost the same as the figure of 2° 042 juveniles registered for the first time on leaving school at the end of the summer term. There was a reduction, contrary to the seasonal trend, in - unemployment in the coal-mining industry. An analysis shows that 070.000, or 46 per cent, of the total registered unemployed, had been without work fol less than six weeks. -
