(From Our Own Correspondent.) LINTON, Aug. 10.
Tho garden circle committee held a plain and fancy dress masquerade dance in Ihe hall, which was simply but prettily decoralcd for the occasion, A professional orchestra rendered a programme of old and modern .dances, and extras were played by Mrs Watersou and Mr McMahon. Mr J. Ilight carried out tho duties of M.C. The fancy costumes wore judged while the grand march was in progress. The winners wore: Meet original, Mrs W. Algie and Mr Sphen. Algic; prettiest, Mrs Moyes. Others in costume were; Mrs A. Batehela.r, Starry Night; Mrs Algie, Grandma; Mrs T. Lynch, Old English; Mrs Moyes, Early Victorian; Mrs C. Terry, Turkish Lady; Mrs Waterson, Pierrette; Jim Quarterly, Victorian Lady; Misses Joy Hallman, Red White and Blue Pierrette; R. Tottman, Gypsy; B. Algie, Gypsy; D. Buglass, Sale’s Now On; P. Waterson. Messrs. Tipping, Porter; T. Moves, Soldier; S. Moyes, Admiral; Quarterly, - Satan; .1. Sinclair, Boy Blue; S. Algic, Absent-mind-'cd Professor. Mr J. Hillas was in charge of the ice cream and soft drinks. Another successful card evening was hold in the Parish Hall when the winners were Miss E. Young and Mr W. Sheridan. Miss Cowan is the guest of Mr and Mrs C. Aldrich.
