SALE OF STOCK.
AMERICAN ANIMALS. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, Aug-. 10. Unusual interest was''created to-day by the sale of 11 bulls which had been sent to the Dominion from the United States. The 12 animals sent to New Zealand were quarantined for 60 days after their arrival in the Dominion. One of the bulls was withdrawn from the sale, and the average price obtained for the remaining 11 was 287 guineas. Top price of 560 guineas was paid by Mr W. S. McEwen, Cambridge, for a three-year-old animal. Mr McEwen’s topprice purchase, Susie’s Oxford Design, was junior champion at the National Dairy Show of America in 1935. The high price of 525 guineas was paid for a rising eight-year-old, Sybil’s Star Gamboge by Dr. G. Walker, Whangarei. It is claimed that this bull is the most outstanding type of Jersey seen in the Dominion. It was grand champion of the National Dairy Show of America in 1934. Another outstanding purchase was that of the three-year-old. Noble’s Design, by Mr T. Smith, Otcrohanga, who paid 400 guineas for the animal.
