Goddard (Gloucester), who has been chosen for the third Test against Now Zealand, of the Worcester wickets has been emulated only 18 times since the war and only three times in Gloucester’s history. Dtails of the county matches are as follow :
Surrey v. Middlesex.-—Surrey: First innings, 170 (Owen-Smith 5 for 52) ; second innings 209 (Sims 5 for 35). Middlesex :' First innings, 101; second innings 7 for 230 (.Human not out 74). Middlesex won by three wickets. Warwick v. 'Yorkshire.—Warwick: First innings, 205 (Verity 9 for 43); second innings 180 (.Verity 5 for 49). Yorkshire: First innings 282 (Sutcliffe 75, Hutton 75) ; second innings, 1 for 106. Yorkshire won by nine wickets.
Sussex v. Kent.—Sussex first innings,, 552 (John Langiidge 109, J. Parks’ 106) ; second inniugs, 0 for 62. Kent: First innings 290 (Ashdown 80); followed on, making 317 (Ames 84). Sussex won by ten wickets. Leicester v. Hampshire..—Leicester: First innings 404 (Berry 153) ; second innings, 1 for 32. Hampshire: First innings, 180 (Flamson 6 for 61) ; followed on making 254 (Herman not out 91). Leicester won by nine wickets. Glamorgan v. Somerset.—Glamorgan : First innings, 243 (Smart 90, Meyer 5 for 56); second innings, 191 (White 6 for 52) .Somerset: First innings, 191 (Mathews 4 for 32) ; second innings, 9 for 183. Glamorgan won on the first innings. Lancashire v. Notts.—Lancashire; First innings, 437 (Place 137); second innings", 0 for 126 (Paynter not out 50). Notts: First innings, 191 (Harris 103, Wilkinson 5 for 60) ; second innings, 370 (Keeton 97, Gunn not out 89, Hardstaff 62). Lancashire won by ten wickets. Gloucester v. Worcester. —Worcester: First innings, 310 (Kimpton 92; Goddard 6 for 68) ; second innings, 202 (Goddard 10 for 113). Gloucester: First innings, 196; second innings, 7 for 317 (Hammond 178). Gloucester won by three wickets.
Nortliants v. Derby.—Northants: First innings, 253 (G. Pope 5 for 43); second innings, 159 (Bellamy 83; Mitchell 6 for 63). Derby: First innings, 9 for 402 declared (Smith 104, G. Pope 101); second innings, 1 for 11. Derby won by nine wickets.
RODINS INJURED
BRUISING AND STRAIN. Received August 11, 11.45 a.m. LONDON, Aug. 10. R. W. V. Robins (captain of tlio English Test team) has been X-rayed following a blow oil the body from a no-ball from Cover on the Oval yesterday. The injury is not serious. He suffered bruising and slight muscle strain, but is expected to be fit for the Test with New Zealand.
