HOCKEY

MANAWATU ASSOCIATION. MEETING OF EXECUTIVE. A meeting of the executive of the Manawatu Hockey Association was held last evening, Mr W. H. Wilson presiding. In reply to an invitation from Manawatu, the Auckland Association wrote stating that it would not he possible for their ladies’ team to play in Palmerston North on the way to the New Zealand tourney at Invercargill, or on. the return. The King Country Association wrote asking for a representative match at Taumarunui.—Tt was decided to reply that it would not be pos-sible to arrange the match. Two Indies’ teams whose affiliation and ground fees have not been paid are not to be permitted to participate further in the competition until payment is made. Mr R. L. C. Aitoheson was appointed handicapper for the sealed handicap competitions. In response to a request from the High School teams it was decided to write to the Wellington Association asking if a match could be arranged with a secondary school side. A grant towards the expenses of the local team is to ho made.

Broadway A were declared winners of the senior competition and it was decided to write to the club offering the association’s congratulations.

SATURDAY’S FIXTURES. Fixtures (sealed handicap) and umpires for matches on Saturday are as follow: Men’s senior.— Phoenix (e) v. Broadway A (f), No. 2 ground, Hokowhitu, at 1.40 p.m. (Mossf-s F. Mellaohlan and I). W ilton); C'.0.8. v. 'Broadway B (c), No. 1 ground. Hokowhitu, at 3 p.m. (Messrs W. Lundv and M. Levy). Men’s junior.—Phoenix (c) v. Massey College. No. 2 ground. Hokowhitu, 3 n.m. (Messrs Tv. Drinkwater and S. RadclifTe); C.S. (f) v. Broadwnv, No. 1 ground. Hokowhitu. at 1.40 p.m. (Messrs W. Sutton and R. Honre). W’omen’s division.—H.S.O.G. v. Awahuri. at Taknro Park. 1.40 p.m. (Messrs A)’. Inkpen and AV. Philp); Public Service v. M.K.M., at Taknro Park, 3 n.m. (Mr N. Hansen): Ivauwhata v. Broadway, at Takaro Park, 1.40 p.m. (Messrs V.
