TOUR ABROAD.

YOUNG BUNNYTHORFE RESIDENTS. Interesting letters have received by Mr and Mrs John Mac Kean, or Bunnythorpe, from their daughter and son, Miss Joyce Mac Kean and Mr J an Mac Kean, who are at present on a tour of America, tlie British Isles and. most important to them, of Prince Edward Island, which is the birthplace of their grandfather, the late Mr Charles Mackinnon, one of the worthy pioneers of the Kangiwahia district.* Writing of farming conditions oil Prince Edward Island, they state that the cows are mostly Ayrshires, while the very few sheep to be seen are of poor quality compared with New Zealand. As for the United States, the young tourists were not very enthusiastic. “The country is full of strikes, they state, “and the labour problems seem to be enormous. They consider themselves the foremost nation in the world, but at times one would think they were still barbarians.” In another letter they stated that “one has to travel to fully appreciate British rule.” Landing in Vancouver, Mr Mac Kean and his sister were met by a son of llrs Burn, of Palmerston North, and shown over the city. From there they went to Holdsburg, Chicago, New York, Boston, and Halifax. A cousin is to fly them from Prince Edward Island to catch the Empress of Britain on August 28, en route to England. They were particularly looking forward to their visit to Aberdeen, the birthplace of many of their ancestors.
