SUNDAY SCHOOLS.

PRIZES PRESENTED. In the Orange Hall on Saturday evening Mr J. Rowan presented the prizes to tjie successful pupils of the Russell Street and Awapuni Sunday schools. The gathering opened with a tea to which. 125 children and about 50 adults sat down. A large variety of items were rendered by the children and Mr A. Pegler, an ex-superintend-ent, *gave a talk entitled “The Necessity of Making the Choice While Young,” which was illustrated with informative lantern slides. Mr A. F. Haselden thanked the speaker, at the same time stating that the average attendance at the Sunday school, which was interdenominational, had risen during the past year from 36 pupils to 61. The programme closed with a prayer by Mr E. Kelly, of Newbury. The prizes were then distributed.
